Hammers focused on striker duo

|

West Ham are refusing to give up on either of their two striker targets – Maxi Gomez and Salamon Rondon.

Despite Gomez currently preferring to remain in Spain his options are limited and that is giving the Irons cause to believe they can persuade him into the London Stadium.

There is always the chance that a bid could emerge from a top La Liga outfit despite strong speculation that Barcelona were keen a couple of weeks back obviously being agent talk.

The Hammers are his only show in town and with Celta Vigo keen to cash in, the pressure will come on the striker to make a decision as Mario Husillos continues to negotiate.

Meanwhile, Rondon remains a target and the Director of Football is likely to go back with an increased bid for the West Brom striker.

A top Hammers source to CandH by email: “It’s early days in the window – we shall see what emerges over the next couple of weeks but we have made an offer as revealed and remain interested.”

How can there be spelling mistakes in an email from a west ham official that you would just simply copy and paste into your article?! Even if there was, surely to be more professional you would have corrected the spelling mistake before posting? Unless of course there is no West Ham Insider that C&H use and you guys just make this stuff up?

I agree. It’s Carlos Bacca all over again, and we likely have another month of it. All the while, other clubs sniff around and beat us to the punch. It’s alright saying it’s early days, but that’s no excuse for not getting your man now – otherwise it’s just a gamble of nerves, and I could do with mine intact, thanks very much! Get it done early, then we can laugh at Spurs when they fail to sign anyone decent because they leave it to deadline day!

Maxi Gomez scenario getting very boring now – let’s move on, last I heard he wasn’t the only decent striker in the world !

I think it would show real ambition to get both. Despite Rondon’s buy out fee, he only has one more year on his contract and it’s hard to see West Brom not wanting to cash in rather than lose him for nothing. 12.5m plus a player would suit both teams I would think. Maybe even 9-10m and Robert Snodgrass who would be fantastic at Championship level still and will probably find his chances limited under Pellegrini. Of course, injuries could change that again.

I desperately want Gomez for no other reason than he is Pellegrini’s man, we have chased him for 7-8 months and just like Felipe Anderson, it shows belief in the managers judgement to go all out to get the player he wants. I think Anderson proved he was worth the extra money and I think he’ll prove it more so next season.

If Gomez doesn’t WANT to come to us, do we really want him or are we not storing up a problem for the future #JustAskin

  • Zahama says:

I think it is always important that players go where they want to rather than feel forced into a move. Dom I think that Snoddy woudl definitely not want to go and play for Slav who reportedly din’t even know his best position
