Pelle lords it over Lampard

Manuel Pellegrini will lord it over Frank Lampard in the salary stakes when the former Iron takes up his position as Chelsea boss.

According to https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9379146/chelsea-lampard-salary-west-ham-pellegrini-wage/ the former Derby County boss will be on around £16.5 million over three years at Stamford Bridge – a yearly wage packet of £5.5m.

Pellegrini meanwhile is on £7 million a year over three years – £21 million – some way in front of the rookie Blues manager.

In fact Pelle is now reported as the fifth highest paid manager in the Premier League behind:

O Pep Guardiola ( £20m)

O Maurico Pochitteno (£8.5)

O Jurgen Klopp (£7.5 m)

and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (£7.5).

He was the first and only real choice of the board when they decided to allow David Moyes to leave at the end of his short spell at the club.

Former Iron Lampard is a risky choice for Chelsea after one season in management which ended with him failing to take the Rams into the Premier League via the play offs.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the Bridge and whether Pelle can get to them given that Chelsea have to cope with  a transfer embargo from Fifa banning them for registering players for the two consecutive windows over breaching regulations regarding minors.

Personally Lampard looks far too inexperienced to have landed such a job and maybe the transfer ban helped him with other more experienced bosses probably giving the job a swerve as a result of the ban.

Pelle has a great chance of really advancing given the situation there and at Arsenal where the club is on a minimal transfer budget.

The wages that managers earn are truly obscene – I dont think the fact that Pelle earns more than Lampard (and presumably Emery) is something for us fans to be proud of

The table that is of interest is the final league table – let us hope that Pelle can top Lampard and / or Emery in that table – then we will have something to be proud of
