Hammers hit by new long term injury blow

|

West Ham have been hot by another major injury blow with Ryan Fredericks set to spend three months on the sidelines.

The right back was injured at Huddersfield after appearing as a substitute for Pablo Zabaleta with manager Manuel Pellegrini revealing after the match he had been unable to walk.

Fredericks has damaged his ankle and according to ClaretandHugh‘s best source looks set to be out of action for around three months.

In a text message our highly placed insider told us: “It looked bad at the time and it has turned out that way. We expect Ryan to be out for approximately three months. We feel sorry for the lad and we as a club are getting no luck with injuries whatsoever at the moment.

Although both Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere are expected back after the international break it means Fredericks will join Winston Reid, Andriy Yarmolenko, Manu Lanzini and Carlos Sanchez as long term injury victims.

I’d love to know if, over the past 10 years, any club in any league has been hit by more injury days than we have. It’s ridiculous.

I think you are probably right. I tried to tell myself that I was just being paranoid over the injuries, so a few years back I started checking on the PL ‘Injury league Table’ on physioroom.com. And found I wasn’t being paranoid. Nearly every time I looked on there we were top or nearly top. It is also weird how often our new signings seem to get really bad injuries. You can fill in your own names there -a long line running from Dean Ashton to AC-but just this season we have Sanchez, Fredericks, Yarmolenko & Wilshere. The odd hamstring strain you expect, but 6 month injuries? Not many seem to escape the West Ham curse!
