West Ham’s growing injury list would appear to ensure that yet another key position will need covering via a January window cash splash.
News that Ryan Fredericks is set to be out of action until at least February it looks very much as though the Hammers will need to make an addition on the right side of the back four as well as the left.
Director of Football Mario Husillos was scouting in Greece for a signing on that side last week but now seems certain to add a right back to his shopping list.
With Pabolo Zabaleta rising 34 in January and already discussing a likely retirement at the end of the season it seems inevitable that the Hammers will need cover in that area as they have no other natural right sided defender on the books unless they turn to the academy.
It’s a blow for the club who are getting no luck whatsoever with the injury list growing by the week and pushes the winter replacements to around four with a couple of full backs and two midfielders the priorities.
It’s just one thing after another …seems to happen every season now..
