Hammers hopes dashed

|

West Ham fans’ hopes of the club enjoying a pre-season prestige friendly against Lazio have been dashed by Bournemouth’s intervention.

The Irons were believed to be interested in hosting a game against the Italian outfit at the LS on August 3 but the Cherries have announced they are meeting the Coppa Italia holders 24 hours earlier.

The Irons are of course competing in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China this summer.

We will play fellow Premier League sides Manchester City, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the tournament this July in a pre-season competition, in the build-up to the 2019/20 campaign.

All four teams will feature in a double-header at Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on Wednesday 17 July, before heading to Shanghai’s Hongkou Stadium on Saturday 20 July for the third/fourth place play-off and final.

It will be the first time the biennial tournament takes place in two different locations.

An announcement on our London Stadium opponents is expected soon.

  • Dom says:

A top German side would be good. Decent atmosphere.

    Too slow again.
    Just like our transfer policy.
When we decide to get someone, he has already gone somewhere else.
Mind you this could be a ploy by the board anyway.
