Hammers’ huge striker obstacle

|

West Ham face a major obstacle in their bid to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the form of the clauses involved in any deal.

The Portuguese club signed Nunez for €24m, or around £20m, from Spanish club Almeria but agreed to pay them 20 per cent of any profit they received if they sold the forward  per O Jogo.

In addition to that, they have also agreed that his agents be paid 10% of any deal.

It means that a huge chunk of any deal is being siphoned away from Benfica’s bank accounts.

If he moves for a £50m fee, Benfica would owe 20% of £30m to Almeria, which equates to £6m. They’d also then owe 10% to his agents, which is £5m.

Missing out on over £11m is likely to hurt the Portuguese club and it may be a sign of why they’re demanding such high fees for the player.

It’s looking tricky!

An extra 11m to sign a top striker to make CL is a no brainer but again I just have to say how disappointed I have been in our recruitment this window, I really hope someone will be shown the door for this debacle.

Just cant believe why we have left everything so late. Our signings should have been set up before the window even opened. So that when the window did open it’s just a case of doing the paperwork. I thought getting a specialist recruitment director (Rob Newman) would have done away with last minute desperate signings. Why oh Why is this happening AGAIN.

I see Man City have just signed Julian Alvarez. Yes the same player we were supposed to be after earlier in the window. If Lingard goes to Newcastle, that will just be the icing on the cake of frustration and disappointment.

What is this Newman bloke doing if he didn’t know this already ?
    Ridiculous state of affairs
