Hammers legends applaud ‘Iron of Year’

GaleFormer Irons Tony Gale and Leroy Rosenior have applauded the ClaretandHugh followers who made Aaron Cresswell our Iron of the Year.

‘Galey’ was the first to react eclaring: “You have a very wise readership. He’s the obvious choice. He’s had a brilliant season, I can’t speak highly enough of him.

“There’s been the odd moment but to play as many games as he has done in his first Premier League season tells you a lot about him. The best is yet to come and for the money we paid (£3.5 million) it was a fantastic deal.

He’s knocking on the England door and it’s not his fault there are so many decent left sided defenders around at the minute. I think he’ll make it anyway and my Iron of the Year by a country mile.

Leroy has been equally impressed saying: Even though I was a striker and would like to have given it to Sakho, Cressie has been superb. A very worthy winner.”

And Tony Cottee made it three out of three for Cressie saying: “Only serious contender – he’s been fantastic.”

well i have been told i speak the most sense when it comes to west ham 😀

  • TysonM says:

Well tbh i voted for Sakho, but that was purely because i hate to think where we would be in the league without his goals. But Cresswell deserves it for sure.

  • bubs says:

Let’s hope he gets his head down now and builds on the great start,
His agent needs to wait before he starts demanding more or he moves to a club where he warms the bench like Rodwell and destroys his career,
Well done Cressie great first season,

  • Rads the Despondent Man says:

Fair play to the lad,he had a great first season in the Prem.Well deserved.Guess we cant have a Young Hammer of the Year poll,we havnt seen any 😉

  • Michael Miller says:

With the best will in the World I’d hardly call Leroy Rosenior or Tony Gale legends – anyway forget that – well done Aaron Cresswell.

He’s had a brilliant First Season, a couple of b&lls-ups, but generally a marvellous Season – it proves that there’s talent in the Championship waiting to step up!

    • Michael Miller says:

….I did read yesterday that Chelsea were sniffing round him – Agent talk probably but let’s hope we can hang on to him!
