Hammers lose ground in transfer chase

|

West Ham are now behind Spurs in the race to sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to a new report.

Football.London claims that the Baggies goalkeeper could be on the move to north London, rather than east London, despite there being reports of interest from the Hammers.

Spurs are said to be the favourites to tie up a deal to sign the England international, who remains in the Championship.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he is likely to be moving on a free transfer.

A deal to take him to Spurs would see him become the back-up to their No.1 Hugo Lloris, although he might not get that many minutes at West Ham, either.

The Irons have Lukasz Fabianski as their No.1 and Alphonse Areola is likely to stay this summer, be it on loan or on a permanent deal from PSG.

We have two better keeper at the moment, I would not be unhappy if we started next season with Fab and Areola as our 2 keepers.

We’re going to miss out on Johnstone ? Best news I’ve heard for ages. Bloke is way short of top Premier League standard.
