Hammers offered Ayew £90K per week

|

jackHammers Chairman’s son Jack Sullivan has admitted that West Ham offered Andre Ayew £90,000 per week to become a Hammer before Swansea came in with a massive offer of £120,000 per week to gazump them.

Jack was told by one West Ham fan  ‘look at Ayew, the board just let him go, why? Questions need to be asked’

Young Sullivan replied on wtitter ‘”We offered 90k a week! Swansea offered 120k”

The former Olympique de Marseille man was a free agent when his contract came to and end so could name his price as West Ham, Crystal Palace and Swansea all chased his signature.  Swansea signed him on a four year deal which will reportedly cost them £25m in wages plus handsome fees for several agents running into six figures.

Ayew has scored two goals in two games for Swansea but was it worth breaking the bank at £120,000 per week to make him West Ham’s highest earner?

Jack Sullivan added via Social media “We are not done in the transfer window! We are hoping to sign a striker and a midfielder.”

NO way are Swansea paying him that much. He may have got a nice signing-on fee, goal bonus, and maybe image rights, but not 120k.
Simple reasons – 1. they cant afford it under FFP and 2. If they pay him that much, then any other top earner at the club has likely got a clause in their contract that their pay will match other top earners. That’s the kind of thing that got us in trouble under the Icelandics.
Once again, young Jack talks a load of Bull to try and make his dad look better

Jack really does talk a load of nonsense sometimes.Andre Ayew got a signing on fee as a free agent of about 5million.His wages are actually round about 50-55k a week.No one at Swansea comes even close to 120k a week i can assure you all.For my sins my father is a welshman & a Swan.Though these figures i give are not 100% solid they are pretty close to the truth.

But as a freebie which at the moment if Swansea sell would cost £15-£20 million,
He is the bargain of the season,
We keep missing the trick, these free transfers will cost this money every time because the players hold out in there last 2 years knowing they will receive these wages,
Just today Man U keeper has been told to sit tight for 1 year and he will receive £12/£15
Million pounds signing on next year ( what would you do ) and Man U holding out will loose £25 million,
You watch Swansea sell in December to Chelski for approx £18 million,

He has looked good in his opening two games, there were a lot of claims in France that he and his brother had attitude problems so it remains to be seen whether they will resurface. Talking of attitude problems Balotelli still hasn’t signed for anyone, so if we can’t get anyone in he may be worth a gamble ?

Not for me. He’s in the same bracket as Barton – a decent player on his day (although they’ve been few and far between over the last few seasons) but full of angst and attitude. Why would he turn it on for us, if he couldn’t with Liverpool? No thanks. Next…

You’re probably right but the Liverpool fans never really wanted him, from what I have seen the only manager ever to get the best out of him fairly consistently was Mancini, a strict disciplinarian that wasn’t frightened to stick a rocket up him every now and again, perhaps Slav could do the same. It’s unlikely anyway QPR said today they have received 2 firm bids for Austin but none yet that reach their valuation so lets hope that one of those is ours and we can reach an agreement with them.

I might be cynical here but even as a free transfer i find it difficult to believe that Swansea are paying him 120k a week.

    • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

Why so? Swansea’s ground might only hold 20,500 people, but they’re not the small town club they once might have been. With the inbound TV money, solid management and established PL status, it goes to show their ambition and their football is ‘tidy’ so I can understand why he chose that option (if we are to believe money wasn’t the only factor…). At £25m over four years, and given his start, it seems like a decent deal all round to me.
