Hammers open up on midfielder link

Reports that the Hammers are hunting Marseilles midfielder Morgan Sanson have received a cool response from a top Claret and Hugh insider.

Sky Sports broke the story that we are in talks with the club and player’s agents this morning but the Irons do not have the 24 year old marked down as one of their ‘must have’ targets.

He is certainly among those on the manager’s list but Celta Vigo’s Stanislav Lobotka appears to be at the top of it as the club seek a possible double deal with him and Maxi Gomez.

Sky linked defensive midfielder Sanson as the pace steps up in our chase to nail down some early targets but at club level it quickly became clear that he is not the main main as far as we are concerned.

Our source immediately declared once we contacted him: “He is certainly not at the top of our list – there’s interest in several.”
