Report: West Ham linked with £31m Marseille player

|

West Ham are in talks to sign Marseille’s Morgan Sanson according to Sky Sports News

Marseille is said to be willing to listen to offers for some of their players after they failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League say Sky. Sanson, who Marseille value at around €35m (£31m) played 33 times for the French club last season, scoring five goals and getting three assists. The 24-year-old signed for €12m from Montpelier in January 2017 and has made 18 youth caps for France.

Claret and Hugh say:

We seem to be linked with a lot of midfielders at the moment. There is no doubt West Ham are in the market for a defensive midfielder, They are known to be looking at the French and Spanish league but it remains to be seen if Sanson is on the list and if so what priority is he?

West Ham wanted to sign Andre Gomes and bid twice before being told he had his heart set on Everton, in the last 24 hours our intentions appear to have switched to Celta Vigo target Stanislav Lobotka with a reported bid of £30m.  We won’t be signing both Lonotka and Sanson.

A telling part of the report on Sanson is that he has been offered to West Ham, Wolves and Newcastle, almost like the offer was unsolicited by Marseille or his agents.

It is only a matter of time I am sure before we get linked to the return of Sanson’s teammate Dimi Payet.
