Hammers striker problem out of control

|

Please don’t think I am using this as an opportunity to have a pop at David Moyes and I understand much has been written about it already. But we should all care deeply that the Hammers striker problem is out of control!  Today a very highly placed source at the club made it clear they will be making a striker arrival a priority this winter whilst adding that it would have to be done on funds raised from selling  fringe players. Quite how that is going to be done is a mystery. Top – or even half decent strikers – come for much more than we are likely to raise from such as Ben Johnson, Maxwell Cornet and the like!

How it has come to this is well known. The manager seems to prefer taking the likes of Arnautovic and Antonio and developing them as strikers. The same process is going on with Jarrod Bowen, Now the club seem to be catching onto a problem which has been worrying the fans for months on end. Last winter Moyes claimed he may have sorted the problem by buying Danny Ings who hasn’t scored a goal for the club since the February of last season when he struck twice against Nottingham Forest.

What has happened to his alleged ability to pluck promising strikers out of the Championship?

Ings cost around £15 million and whether we can raise the same again from those fringe players has to be doubtful. This has been a mess in the making for a long time and I certainly don’t see it being solved this winter!

Just as baffling is why we keep signing strikers that don’t suit the way we play or the way Moyes wants to play. Ings is a decent premier league striker but needs support and isn’t a runner , it’s disappointing Mubama doesn’t get more game time
