Hammers will have to let defender go!

|

JenWest Ham won’t be signing Carl Jenkinson permanently next season as Arsenal are looking for an incredible £15 million fee!

The Hammers wanted to sign him in the summer but the player instead opted to sign a new five year deal at the Emirates.

And once that was agreed, Arsene Wenger told the Hammers owners that the right back would cost them £15 million if they wanted to take him to Upton Park .

Instead David Sullivan and David Gold agreed another loan deal which will cost the Hammers a whopping £4 mllion for the season in wages and appearance bonuses.

ClaretandHugh has learned the terms of the deal and Jenkinson certainly hasn’t come cheap with loan fee, basic wages and various bonuses to both Arsenal and the player.

We are paying Arsenal a £1.5m loan fee plus £10,000 for every starting appearance whilst the Harlow-born 23 year old picks up £5k for every start.

Sunderland had offered Arsenal a £2m loan fee, but Jenkinson had been so happy at the Boleyn last season that he insisted he returned to the east end.

However, Arsenal have no intention of letting the player move on for anything less than £15 million and the Hammers will not be playing at that price.

Our source explained: “He’s a decent player but we don’t see him as a £15 million player. We can’t go there and Arsenal won’t budge so it’s extremely unlikely he’ll be here next season.”

If he’s worth it at the end of the season….why not?

  • Sebastian Welander says:

Alright, but shouldn’t we start looking elsewhere then?

Drop him play tommo and send him straight back,
I said at the beginning of this campaign it was a money earner for the gunners and as soon as he signed that extension we should have let him go to Sunderland !!!
We would be 6 points better off and Sunderland would be in even dire trouble .
15 mill ???? For that we could buy a world class full back !!!!
    Roll on January !!!!!!

Personally i think we missed out signing Trippier from Burnley at the end of the season. Had a great year at right back for them and only cost 3.5 million. Now he sits on the bench at spurs and is wasted! I would personally like to see us put an offer in for Byram from leeds. Really highly rated at Leeds and only 22, think he could make the step up as cresswell has!

Quite agree guys. Jenks is great going forward but can and has lost concentration in defence. Worth nowhere near 15 mil. Let’s look elsewhere!

Blimey, there’s no way he’s worth that – the economics of these loan deals is baffling – for that sort of money West Ham have got to play him – similarly you’d expect with Victor Moses.

I know Jenkinson’s bucked up a bit after a particularly dodgy start but he still seems a bit slow of thought and hesitates too much – there must be plenty of decent full-backs in the Championship worthy of a step up!

There are plenty out there but the gooners will drop there price wait and see, plus player power will win in the end,
Yes he wants to play for Arsenal but they don’t want him,and like this year he will turn others down if we show interest,
But I personally would send the scouts out now looking for defenders unless Slav thinks he has it covered by the youngsters,Oxford,Burke Chambers and Dobson,
Let’s win the league and get this season done before we worry about next year

What about Stephen Hughes at the back, isn’t he right back.?? Am I wrong.? Wouldn’t be the first time…. Maybe he’s a left back..
