Hammers windfall limited to £500,000

|

Claret and Hugh reported earlier today the Hammers were in line for a £1m bonus from their share of the gate receipts of the Old Trafford victory.

We have since learned the amount will be much lower and closer to £600,000.

Twenty percent of the gate receipts will go on  VAT before West Ham get their 45% share which means the gate receipts from Manchester United  last night were around £1.6m.

Around £266,600 will go in tax,  £133,000 to the FA, with the Hammers and West Ham sharing the remaining £1,200,000 at £600,000 each.

The Hammers costs for flights and hotels came to £100,000 so the net benefit to West Ham is around £500,000.

Clubs only get the cost of train tickets for the squad back in expenses meaning flights and hotels are at the club’s own expense.

West Ham will be hoping a bumper crowd when Manchester City visit the London Stadium in fifth round although they will need to share 45% of the net proceeds from ticket sales.
