Moyes eyes top British player

|

As the Hammers prepare for the big European final, the recruitment team at the London Stadium is working hard to devise a plan to emulate similar success next season.

By looking at the current West Ham squad, it’s clear what they need: an elite number 6 midfielder (since Declan Rice will be on his way out) and a winger who can provide an abundance of pace on the flank.

According to The Daily Mail, they may have the perfect plan to address the latter issue. The report claims that West Ham really are interested in signing Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.

This weekend will be the perfect time for the Hammers to scout Barnes properly, since it is the probably the last fixture between the two sides for a while. Leicester City who are in all sorts of trouble, so they will field their strongest eleven of which Barnes is definitely a part .

Barnes has played 33 times in the Premier League this season and returned 13 goals which is an incredible return in that struggling Leicester side. His versatility makes him an extremely useful squad player, as he can play any position in the front line.

Meanwhle as reported on CandH Myes has made it clear he wants to sign British players.

Win the match and send them down to get the best deal for him. I’d rather them than Leeds to be relegated (got family near in Harrogate). As I remember he’s another player who seems to like playing against us. Would be a great asset but we seem to be ok for a left winger with Cornet and Benni.

Would love Harvey Barnes and I personally would offer either Benrahma or Cornet in the deal. Neither have done much to impress me. Likewise I would offer Ings in a deal for Ward-Prowse. All my own personnal opinion of course.

Typical disrespectful tabloid reporting as Leicester City haven’t been relegated yet. An Everton win will send them down regardless of how many points they get tomorrow though.

Has anyone heard Declan say he’s on his way? Everyone seems to be saying he’s going this summer. Just like they did last year and the year before. If we don’t qualify for next season’s Europa Cup alongside Liverpool and Brighton, I’d say it’s most likely that West Ham will start listening to offers. We are told there hasn’t been any.

Barnes will only be allowed to go if Leicester go down tomorrow (as will Maddison and a few others, I suspect) Cornet and Benrahma should stay as they’re both Premier League quality players. (We’ve hardly seen Cornetr, have we?) ….If there has to be a player leave I hope it’s the super ineffective Downes. Send him back to where he belongs….The Championship.
