Bobby Moore and the team of 1968 epitomised  the West Ham Way in many ways.

Great performances, poor performances and a generally philosophy which seemed to be “You score three – we’ll get four.”

Arguments and discussions have raged forever over what the WHW really is and in this video from Hammers mad fan Chris Hart – who also advises CandH on it’s legal requirements – it has never been better demonstrated.

It also includes possibly Mooro’s greatest goal in a seven goal thriller at Upton Park with a certain Harry Redknapp adding one of his own from down the right.

Those of us of a certain age were there watching – myself from the old West Enclosure – will remember those great old days for the younger followers of our the site we hope this gives you a tiny insight into what supporting the he Irons has always been about.

It’s agony and ecstasy and most of us would have it no other way.

Those were the days my friend we thought they’d never end!

“We’d sing and dance forever and a day.”
I was there, everything looks so familiar. It would be another two weeks before the excitement started again. Next up at home Leicester City 4-0 and the goal by Martin Peters which is my favourite Upton Park goal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpEheTehiSM.

I love the non goal celebrations especially Bobby Moore. I vaguely remember Brian Moore describing it as “all in a days work”.
What is it with two QPR fans in the North Bank? Don’t they know that they were taking their lives in their hands?

I can’t play the video. Like many other articles you’ve posted, it’s like there is an invisible file over the top of it – perhaps one of your whole-page ads or something…?

I’ve tried on Chrome and IE. Anyone else having issues?

  • Ok we have turned the moderation off for a trial period to see how it goes. No foul or abusive language towards anyone as posts will be immediately binned. We listen to feedback so hopefully we can get a two way understanding sorted. Cheers boys and girls. COYI

A relic from another age- as are those like me who remember those times 😀😀 (but in my case not that game). Times have changed & personally I think the WHW should be treasured as a memory by those who can still remember it but not dragged into current discussions of how we should play. The game has changed so much. Five years after this we went down playing the WHW but were able to hang on (for THREE YEARS!!) to world class players. Leeds & Liverpool came up from Second Div & won the first. Man U went down in 72? Spurs followed soon after. Crazy times which really do
seem to come from a different world. Yes I want us to play lovely football AND get in the top half. But with the gap between the top six & the rest not getting any smaller & the financial demands as they are you can’t always have both.
