Ok guys if history is any guide we now know what we need for European football next season.
Thanks to Niall McDonald – admin member at the ClaretandHugh Facebook Group the benchmark has been discovered.
Niall has gone back 10 years to discover the points totals required to gain European entry and has come up with some averaged results.
He said: “I had never imagined I’d ever be doing such a thing but the results are very interesting.”
Here they are:
4th place – average 71.2 points [high – 79; low – 67]
5th place – average 65.5 points [high – 72; low – 60]
6th place – average 62.3 points [high – 69; low – 58]
We have 35 points on the board already and if we maintain our current average of 1.66 points per game it would put us on 63.3 points for the season.

If we can keep sakho and the rest fit for the rest of the season then we are capable of 4th place depending on how our fa cup run goes , otherwise we need another striker . I think or average of 1.66 is not accurate because of the time we have gone without our injured players …iwe are better …
i could only take the average across the entire season to date really. of course, we had less injury worries when we were scraping draws against Sunderland, Norwich, WBA and losing at Watford!
I’ve been through our remaining fixtures and I have us getting 65 pts & I was being tough.
If we are capable of 4th place we are also capable of winning the league we are only 7 – 10 points off top, depending on how Gooners / Leicester get on. Why not think big, I see we have been linked with Kramaric who doesn’t get a game at Leicester, I really rate him and think that Bilic could get a lot more out of him than Ranieri is, he could be our 20 – 25 goal a season man, lets see what happens though we need to unload Jelly or Zarate first.
