How I rated the Irons v Everton

|

There will be others giving theirs but after that performance and as it’s the last day, I’m weighing in with mine Here’s Hughie’s ratings:

Adrian: Two or three remarkable saves and entirely confident from start to finish 8

Zaba: The man is an inspiration and has been the perfect example of how to perform over a season 8

Rice: Not much left to say about this remarkable young man – quite excellent again 8

Ogbonna: One horrible mistake but by and large very assured once again 7

Cresswell: Best display in a long time but not quite back to his old self 7

Masuaku: Off early injured No rating

Noble: Here there and everywhere and really led by example 8

Kouyate: Back to his best – if only we’d had this all season what a difference it would have made 8

Lanzini: Brilliant display – every good thing came through him  and regular fouls showed the Everton fear factor. Amazing goal too. 10

Mario: Best performance we’ve seen from him- linked great with Man and Arnie 8

Arnie: Thunderbolt drive for his goal and non stop pressing – scared the Toffees to death 9

Sub

Fernandes: Bits of good and bad but caught the mood and improved 6

Ginge: Got a few goodbye Last Hurrah minutes – thanks for everything. True warrior. 10

Ginge didn’t put a foot wrong. A perfect 10 from me.

    agree with the ratings.
Mario has improved his whole game , especially more recently. He has probably had 2 or 3 top games backed up by some decent showings. Other times he has not shown up. It’s a mix but it could be enough for the manager to say this player is willing to learn and improve his general game, so at the right price we’ll take him. We’ll see what the right price is.

Its clear Mario is a high quality player, it has been since day one for me, I hope we can negotiate a deal to keep him.

You have said that from the off, but I have thought his game was not intense enough for the Prem. I think he has made a lot of progress in that, but I agree that he came with a lot of quality.

Might get away with Mario and Lanzini in same midfield if we dramatically improve on Noble and Kouyate . Still think Kouyate might make a very decent centre half but can’t have him and Noble giving the ball away and letting people run past them .
