How we rated the Irons v Man United

|

Iain McDonald hands out the marks

Fabianski: Just the one fine save required today. three clean sheets in a row!! 7
Fredericks: Looking very much first choice right back before injury struck. Hopefully not serious as he headed to the bench and not down the tunnel 7
Diop: Got dragged around on occasion, but made up for it with some fine tackling 7
Ogbonna: Another competent display against what little threat United posed 7
Cresswell: Worries about who could replace Masuaku happily unfounded; sensible defending and a glorious free-kick to seal the win 7
Rice: Rescued Diop with a fantastic covering run and tackle on Rashford when through. If Man Utd really were interested in signing him in the summer, you could see why today 7
Noble: A typical straightforward performance from the skipper. Booked for a crunching foul 6
Fornals: Not the first overseas player to find the pace in the PL a bit sharp to start with but stuck at it and put in a really good 90 mins 6
Anderson: I was literally thinking to myself how good a player he looks when up went his number and he was off! He was not impressed… 8
Yarmolenko: A cracking goal capped a very professional first half from us; blocked off cutting in on his left foot a lot after the break 7
Haller: The deft touches and lay offs are obviously the norm now; beyond those, Haller never really posed an attacking threat. Wonder what the reaction would be if Carroll had put in this sort of display 5

Subs
Wilshere: A surprising sub for me but did pretty well, keeping the ball moving 6
Zabaleta: I was really impressed at the way he came on at a moment’s notice and was immediately on his game 6
Snodgrass: A late entrant to give Yarmolenko his MOTM ovation   No rating

Sorry Hugh but yet again I haven’t got a clue what game you were watching.
    Shocking evaluation……

    • Lanzini says:

      I’m with Glen
Noble a six ? Held the midfield together we’d be struggling with out him.
Yarmelenko still doesn’t do enough . Fredericks and Cresswell can’t cross, that’s why Haller didn’t have many opportunities.
Fabianski 8 Great stops when needed
Fredericks 6 Fair performance go to learn to cross.
Diop 7 gave the ball away but made some great interceptions
Ogbonna 7 Solid and looking better with every game
Cresswell 7 would of been a 6 but for his great free kick.
Rice 8 controlled the midfield with Noble
Noble 7 captain’s performance would if been a 8 but for his yellow, he has to cut this out otherwise he see red.
Fornals 6 needs game time and has to try to beat his man.It will come.
Anderson 6 not at his best but sublime pass for Yarmelenko goal
Yarmelenko 7 great goal but still needs to work harder, better crossing needed too.
Haller 7 led the line well but little service, needs to shoot more.

      • If you wanna do the ratings for Bournemouth mate let me know either here of on facebook messenger. Best to draw a line under my other reaction. Unlike me. Sorry about that.

  • Hammered says:

Noble 6 ? He was easily man of the match. He was everywhere today.

  • John West says:

Haller 5? You’ve really got to be joking and Noble 6, he was man of the match. 🤣🤣🤣

  • Spotted Dog says:

SO happy for Cresswell. Always one of my favourite players alongside Snodgrass and Antonio, I have thought each unfairly dissed by fans. A contribution and goal to savour.

  • Spotted Dog says:

Even the Man U fans at the pub laughed at Oggy’s tackle and cheered it as proper football.

  • Jaime W says:

Did you watch the game, joke ratings. I had to check it wasn’t April 1st.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Noble was an 8 for me, Haller dominated one of the meanest defences in the league. Hard to say what more you may expect of him, he was starved of supply as seems the case but held the ball up very well and brought his team mates into the game, I would give him 7 also

Good ratings with Noble our MOTM. Pleased to see Cresswell had a good game for a change. Anderson blew hot and cold and Fornals was very ordinary but am sure getting 90 minutes and a big will will do his confidence a lot of good. Haller had a tough game up front and did really well despite the midfield creating no chances for him. Finally to Wilshire who I thought played really well for his short spell and deserved a 7. Looking forward to playing our bogey team Bournemouth next. COYI

  • Hammerkip says:

Now we are starting to look like a good side ..even i m happy.. pleased for creswell he gets a lot of stick but still gets in with it ..I didn’t think haller was that bad today ..his hold up play is great…once again Anderson was sublime ..he was not happy after being hooked …good job we still won because that would of been a talking point.. At last we have consistensie. Long may it continue well done boys coyi !!!

    • Michael says:

Terrible ratings – Haller a 5! Haha. Won so many Aerial battles, great hold up play, at least a 7, more likely an 8. Noble a 6, haha.
Literally no idea what game you were watching, must have been smoking something.

  • Hammer14 says:

What game were you watching sure you just wanted a response can’t really believe your ratings

  • Sid Adams says:

Normally enjoy this site, but utter rubbish, Haller did a brilliant job, dont make yourself look silly

  • Sammyj says:

Haller was immense with his hold up play today and noble bossed midfield so bit unsure of the ratings.

  • Alhama hammer says:

Don’t give up the day job

  • Che Kropp says:

I know it’s dead easy to trash someone who puts out their player ratings but seriously.. Noble was outstanding today, and Haller too a 5? He won an awful lot in the air and played for the team despite no service. Since you ask if Carroll played the same today without being sent off for elbowing Id be equally bemused by a 5.This is ridiculous.

Hugh get rid of iains review if they are going to be this off. Click bait we don’t need thanks.
