How we rated the Irons v the Geordies

|

Hugh hands out his marks

Roberto: Some top saves including a great ‘double.’ Might have done better with a couple of the goals but would have been embarrassing but for him 6

Zaba: Found out far too often by pace as Father Time starts to catch up 4.5

Diop: Not his best afternoon as the quick breaking strikers exposed us at the back 5

Balbuena: Scored a goal -put another just wide – and looked steady for the most part 6

Cresswell: Back to one of those off key performances at front and back 4

Rice: Often over-run in midfield and some unfamiliar sloppy passing 4.5

Noble:  Game passed him by – subbed at half time 3

Yarmolenko: Ditto above 3

Snodgrass: So many expensive purchases on the pitch yet the journeyman pro provides another goal and assist and always driving forward. Love the bloke 7.5

Anderson: Real hit and miss stuff. Top game last week but back to his frustrating worst today and seemingly unable to make a telling pass 3

Haller:  Did okay with what little came his way and occupied the defence as we gave it a go towards the end 5.5

Subs:

Lanzini: Hints that it may be coming back but still finding it hard to go by defenders 4.5

Ajeti: Little show from the Swiss international – he will need time 3.5

Fredericks: Much of a muchness with the others. Made little difference 4

Terrible loss of confidence has even affected Rice. These are good players who should be playing a lot better. At last Fredericks was back for a while and skinning his full-back. Bring back Arthur and get some speed going down the flanks. The manager needs to be more offensively minded. That will create space for Anderson and Lanzini to excel.

Totally agree, need a change of formation too, to a 3-5-2 with two up top, Anderson in behind, Rice and Lanzini in mid. Arthur playing as a wing back. The team need the change in formation to be more offensive and to freshen us the players.

To a man we were poor , I see no effort and no desire in the players . The players need to sort it have some energy . Pelle and the players need to sit and talk and stay together sort this out !

I said after the Palace game that I couldn’t see where the next 3pts we’re coming from, and
that we would be in the bottom 3 by Xmas.
After watching today I’m thinking we could be in the bottom 3 before Xmas.

Our overall play is slow felipe is scared to take a man on. He have a non existant midfield zabaletta his time has come to hang the boots up same goes for noble yes his mr west ham but unfortunately to many wayward sidewards and back passing and to slow to react. Rice needs help as his doing it solo and is now copying noble with the sideways and backward passing. Yes there seems to be alot of non confidence is there anything happening behine the scenes?
Felipe should be dropped and bring one of the youths and hope felipe gets the fire back roberto should be droped and replaced with martins.
As for pelle i think he needs to seriously question his tactics the formation is clearly not working his transfers this season have been appaling there is no muscle in the team except for Antonio everyone else is lightweight
Serious questions need to be asked tonight.

Totally disagree with the ratings for Roberto & Balbuena. The keeper was directly responsible for 2 of the goals so should be marked down significantly despite some some desperate saves that prevented further damage. Balbuena was so shaky which seemed to spread to the rest of the defence. Totally agree with Snoddy’s rating though.

I don’t get why so many people dig out Anderson…
Yes it wasn’t his best game today by a long way, but anything moderately creative comes from. He does frustrate me when he doesn’t attack the full back enough but without his creative abilities we would be watching a team in even bigger trouble. After all, although I missed last week, all they kept saying on SSN was how much of a threat Anderson was, he is a bit of a luxury but we’d be a far worse team without him in my opinion.
As for the goalie, there is zero confidence in the bloke aside from (incorrectly in my opinion) the manager. I don’t rate him at all but the poor bloke didn’t deserve sarcastic cheers from his own fans whenever he made a save. Things can’t get much worse if we bring Martin in for the next game can they?

    • Blimey! says:

People ‘Dig’ Anderson out because he looked a shadow of the player we’ve seen and he’s paid like a superstar !?
He didn’t look interested yesterday and that is a criminal offence in the eyes of Hammers fans.

Wow … watching a different game to me or wearing rose called glasses . Roberto was a disaster . Yes a couple of saves , more like bad misses to me , awful .. 2 … Zabaleta … 1 … Cresswell ..2.. Diop / Balbueana… 3 each … Noble .. 0 .. contributed absolutely nothing … Rice … 2 …he can’t do it on his own . Absolutely zero help from the captain . … Snoddy .. probably the least talented of our squad but has balls twice as big as anyone … 5 … Anderson … pretty but no end product … 3 .. Haller … 1 .. thanks for turning up … Yummy … 2 … nothing to say … ….Pelle minus 1… awful team selection at full back and pedestrian midfield and zero motivation .
