Irons battling Gunners for wonderkid

West Ham are battling Arsenal for the signing of Midtjylland wonderkid Gustav Isaksen, according to The Sun.

The 21-year-old is a Denmark U21 international and plays primarily on the right wing, although he is also capable of playing on the left.

He has already clocked 114 appearances for the Danish side, scoring 18 goals and laying on 10 assists, and there is now plenty of interest from England in securing his signature.

Mikel Arteta is said to be a fan, while Newcastle are also said to be watching his situation.

The Danish club are said to have slapped an asking price of around £17m on the 21-year-old, but that is a figure well within the Hammers’ reach.

It remains to be seen if bids are tabled for Isaksen in January or if the Premier League clubs wait until the summer to try to secure his signature.

The Irons could certainly do with a little more depth on the flanks, so this could be one to keep an eye on.
