Irons central defender decides he must move on

Reece Oxford hasn’t had the best of years and now accepts he will need to leave the Hammers according to a report in the Mirror.

The teenager  – who was so incredibly highly thought of that he was put on £20k a week when he signed his last deal – now knows that the gilt has faced from his early potential as far as the Hammers are concerned.

And the Mirror report claims that he has had further talks with Manuel Pellegrini and has decided he will have to move on.

It’s a genuiely sad end to what was such a promising career and it seems impossible to believe that he has not even been called up to train at Rush Green like the best of the academy youngsters.

Reports that Manchester City are looking at him are ill informed with the only interest coming from Germany with Borrusia Monchengladbach, Leipzig and Hoffenheim scouting him according to a Hammers senior source when we rang him.

He said: “It’s very sad it’s come to this but it looks as though the manager has made his mind up and Reece wants to start again somewhere else.

To make matter worse the player has also had a watch stolen which was given to him by his another nd that matter is being investigated by police.

    Yes this is very sad Hugh – it is not clear what went wrong after such a promising first season – not only teh Arsenal match but I remember him coming on against Spurs and seeing out a 1-0 victory under a lot of pressure
