Irons fully capable of springing a shock on City

|

By Hughie Southon

Sunday…Man City and the prophets of doom are out in force!

It’s understandable of course given that Guardiola’s lot have bounced back brilliantly from the  defeat by Real Madrid, winning two games and scoring ten goals along the way.

But we did the same after out horrible defeat in Frankfurt smashing four past Norwich City in a totally convincing performance

As Dave wrote earlier, De Bruyne was nothing less than truly amazing against Wolves and this is a team that most will be expecting to all but clinch the title on Sunday.

I don’t and there are several factors why but chiefly the fact that over two seasons there has been so little between the two teams with the Irons having beaten by the odd goal in three up there, drawn 1-1 down here and having tipped them out of the Carabao Cup.

We need a win as badly as them to maintain our top six hopes and it is Mark Noble’s final home game whether he plays any part at all or not. Not a single player in the squad will want anything more than to win for the man.

The incentives are enormous as is the threat from this very fine side which arrives from Manchester but as an eternal optimist I see the same result  – 1-1 – as we managed last season but have everything crossed we can go one better.

Certainly I don’t see this as Mission Impossible!

Missed our chance against manure both games due to moyes bringing on noble stone cold ( will he never learn ) to take a pen quite easily a rice goal . Then Cresswell dumb arse dropping off like so many times before losing rashford coming in . Too slow and let’s hope we get a left back that’s quality young tall and have longelo as back up . City will win but not as easily as wolves as we are no pushovers. Hopefully areola in goal please now number 1.

100% Moyes’s decision’s in both games against United have cost us 2 points which would put us on 57 points and United on 54 points which would nearly guarantee Europa League. I don’t think I have ever seen a manager making two as big of mistakes as those, you would see it happening at underage level. The craziest mistake he made in the game away to United was taking Coufal off who was defensively sound and brining Fredericks on whose mistake ultimately led to the goal. I could give you other examples from this season but these alone will more than likely cost us Europa League football.

      • Is there a time when u stop moaning

          Probably not.

Hugh, I would like to know what you define as moaning ? I express my opinions like you so if I am moaning then I would say you are too. In relation to this I believe what I said is actually true and most fans would agree but perhaps I am too honest at times.

          • Definition is “complain or grumble” which is what you consistently do re Moyes. We all believe what we say is true and there are many fans who DON’T agree with you as is shown here and on the FB group regularly. What is truth? Who knows and it’s not for you to claim MOST fans would agree with you. That’s called ego. Touch sad to throw it back at me. I write stuff aimed an gaining reactions rather than having a personal moan up. Given that I run the site it’s my job to make sure there is plenty for people to comment on,. thus comparing me to you is a little amusing. “Too honest” is usually a justification for over the top btw

Two big calls, Johnson at left back, remember he made his debut against City there. Areloa in goal. Maybe a third with Lanzini a better option instead of Soucek.

Why do we need a win as badly as them? We have a 5 point lead over Wolves, and a 14 goal advantage, with two games left. Am I missing something? The game against City is almost a free hit for us.

  • mikey says:

Yes, so we can go for it without a fear of losing, and with the insurance of knowing that we have the Europa Conf League in the bag, as long as we don’t lose by a lot. Very different mentality to a game we start thinking we must win.
