Lucas Paquetá

It’s official: Paqueta to Man City is off

|

The news which we were all hoping for arrived this afternoon. Lucas Paqueta’s proposed move to Man City is off . . . for this transfer window at least.

Although the news has arrived as a result of dubious circumstances, it does provide some sort of relief. The Brazilian has been in magnificent form this season, considering the betting allegations made against him. That the player was able to brush off the noise surrounding him, and produce a match winning performance against Chelsea, is testament to his character.

Earlier this month, it emerged that the Premier League champions were keen to sign West Ham’s playmaker.

Pep Guardiola has lost the services of Ilkay Gundogan this summer, following an outstanding campaign. Talisman Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out until the end of the year after hamstring surgery. As a result, Paqueta had been identified as a possible alternative to City’s creative conundrum.

However, the transfer hit a stumbling block, following Paqueta’s FA charge. Hammers boss David Moyes has shown remarkable faith in the Paqueta, and the player has repaid the Scotsman’s trust and selection.

He is our best player by some distance so I am absolutely delighted he is staying. Now we need to surround him with top players like Kudus (we need to pay for this guy and stop the messing around ). In the last 10 days of the window this is what I believe needs to happen we need to sell 4 players and sign 4 quality players. The 4 players that need to go are Johnson, Cresswell, Coventry and Ings. The 4 signings we need to make are in the positions of LB (love the LB at Bayern Lever), AM (love if it was Kudus), RW (any suggestions welcome) and a CF (PSV forward would be nice, love Gnonto also) If we do this 4 in and 4 out and bring in the proper 4 we will have an excellent season. Please no Lingard, please no En-Nesyr…

Unfortunately Jonham1, that’s 4 British based players. Not happening

“David Moyes has shown remarkable faith in the Paqueta”. You make him sound like a fast car or motorcycle, or something. The Paqueta is top quality, real class and totally reliable. Lots of clubs would like to buy one, particularly Manchester City. Visit our showroom maybe next year because we’re out of stock right now!

I have a liking for Italian fast cars so I’d be a Scamacca. The resale value is not too bad because it was hardly used, just taken out for a run on a few occasions. It seems that the owner just liked to keep it in the garage as a status symbol but was too afraid to take it out for a really good run to see what it was capable of. I hope it has now found a good home where it will be more appreciated!

I’ve just seen on Sky Sports the so called deliberate yellow cards committed by Paqueta. There is no way you can say 100% that Paqueta deliberately tried to get booked. They all looked genuine attempts to play the ball And I cant see how you can say 100% otherwise
