Lanzini states aims but Pelle may have decision to make

|

West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, has made his immediate situation at West Ham clear  during an interview on the official site.

After missing most of last season there had been a lot of speculation suggesting the midfielder wanted a move.

He was linked with with Fenerbache, a move to  his first club River Plate and links with Liverpool have never gone completely away.

That had brought on a lot more speculation in West Ham circles, which were backed up by sources such as ExWHUemployee, that Lanzini wasn’t happy with the deal he was offered.

He is believed to want around £70 k a week but in an interview with the official site the midfielder has stated his intentions clearly declaring: “For me personally, I really need this hard work and the two weeks we have had so far have been amazing. We need to keep going like this as it’s good for us.

“The preseason is very important for every player and for me it is the most important because if you do these five or six weeks of work, then you have a basis for the whole year and you just need to keep your work going.

“Pre-season is the most important time, for me. I want to play all the games, I want to stay in the team (this season) and I am working for this and to not have more injuries, and that’s it.”

ClaretandHugh says: That’s all pretty straightforward from Manu’s point of view but the reality probably in that he has a bit of proving to do over the next three or four months. He is out of contract this time next year and  Manuel Pellegrini is bound to be looking at him quite carefully given his has many midfield options and thus far we haven’t seen the player of a couple of ears ago. In total we have 13 midfielders on the books with a genuine chance of making the first team starting places and at some stage that is going to be trimmed either because some will start to feel disenchanted with lack of minutes or because the boss feels he may need to sell to strengthen. And should Lanzini continue to struggle to recapture his real form a decision could be made on his future before he is able to walk away on a free next summer.

I thought that we held a one year option for extension of contract, or have we already exercised that?

He had a serious injury. Let’s give the guy our support instead of writing him off

    • Not writing him off -masking a question. Yu may not like it but with a contract up in June the reality is obvious unless pople don’t wanna see it

  • Just to explain . Wherever we see a personal agendas against the site and comments aimed at it because of the odd spelling mistake, or turn of phrase for example, these will be moderated out. If you have something football related great. If not you will be wasting your time commenting!

Had a serious injury and now getting into shape and by the looks of it he is getting there. Lanzini would be the 2nd name in my preferred midfield after Rice.

He has the speed, fluidity and a master on the ball. This was partly missing after the comeback and he looked to have a bit too bulky upper body compared to before the injury. Now he look to have regained that balance and together with the other skilled ballplayers we currently have I think he will be a hit.

Personally with his talent and age, I think we’d be mad not to extend his contract. I also personally believe he’s not driven by ego and is a good guy to have around. The difference between what he’s on now and what he wants (and what’s fair) isn’t massive (Hugill wages). I think we should get it done. We’ve saved a lot of money in wages, we’ll save a lot more next summer when Hernandez moves on. Lets secure our valuable assets.

I really hope we come to our senses on this one and give him a new deal. 70k a week is relatively little for a player of his quality. I think we will see the old Lanzini this season with the players we have around him and hopefully it won’t be too late to give him a new deal by then
