Lawro’s Spurs prediction

|

Mark Lawrenson believes that Tottenham will beat West Ham on Sunday.

It is a huge derby for both sides, with each aiming to qualify for the Champions League via the top four.

Of course, West Ham come into the game on the back of a superb win on Thursday, as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League after beating Sevilla 2-0 after extra time.

Spurs also played in midweek, against Brighton, and they beat the Seagulls 2-0 on Wednesday to move level on points with the Irons.

Antonio Conte’s side have a game in hand on the Irons, but David Moyes’ side could take a huge step towards the top four if they manage to win this weekend.

Lawro, though, has backed Spurs to win the game, because of the Irons’ exertions in the Europa League.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Lawro predicted a 2-1 win for Spurs and said: “Tottenham are still very up and down in terms of results but I don’t think they played too badly in defeat against Manchester United last weekend, and they were decent in their win over Brighton on Wednesday.

“Like Leicester, West Ham are also in European action on Thursday and I think their tie with Sevilla will have taken a lot out of them. That’s why I’m going with a Spurs win.”

West Ham won the reverse fixture at the London Stadium 1-0.

Does Lawrenson ever wonder about his forecasts-which anyone can do – SURELY according to him west ham must be relegated most years surely / laughable.

I’m generally pretty happy when Lawro picks us to lose because he’s wrong about us most of the time. It’s when he picks us to win that I worry.
