Leroy: Payet bringing back memories of Bergkamp

LEROY (1)Dimitri Payet’s goal this afternoon was beyond words.

I was working at the Premier League offices where several of us former pros watch several games between us but I always keep a very close eye on the Irons match for this site.

But  when his goal went in every single one of us jumped up and applauded. It was a fabulous goal from a player who has – and will continue to take – the Premier League by the scruff of the neck this season.

The highest compliment I can Dimi is to say that he has brought back the days of Dennis Bergkamp – a guy who scored wonder goal after wonder goal.

I absolutely love this lad  – he is everybody’s kind of player and the beauty is  he’s WEST HAM’S FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS!

But if he is a star player what are we to make our magnificent manager who keeps getting every big decision right. Mark Noble was having a fantastic game when Slav decided to bring him off and throw on Andy Carroll as we went 4-4-2.

And it was AC who provided the knock down for the wondrous Bergkamp-like killer goal from Mr Payet – top marks Slav – you got it spot on!

I love Lanzini who supplied the cross for that goal and of course got one of his own. He’s a quick dynamic player who is going to get better and better as time goes by and he and Payet look a partnership made in heaven.

Am I excited? Damned right I am and now we need to get it right at home. If we do that – as I’m certain we will – goodness knows where we can go.

Ok I know we have to keep our feet on the ground but it’s getting harder and that’s down to a fabulous manager and a magnificent squad – the best we have seen at Upton Park for many a long year.

Oh, and I notice Sunderland got beat as well !!!

  1. Think your getting your goals mixed up Leroy. Andy Carroll set up Lanzini’s goal. And Zarate provided the cross. Lanzini did provide the through ball for Demi. Really excited by Lanzini! Who knows how far that man can go. With him and payet together we are going to keep putting them away this season!

  2. No need to knock Sunderland Leyroy that’s our job and if you are going to comment that’s make it more personal,
Hippo got all the points playing with respect deserves, Big Fat Zero,
Sorry Sunderland Fans but you are going to read a lot of this until your board comes to its senses and puts Hippo in to final retirement, any day now you are going to employ Little Kev and give the family a few more millions

  3. The difference of the post match manager’s interviews said it all…Bilic purring, respectful and passionate. Alladyce moaning, blaming the ref, uninspired. Glad we don’t have to listen to his usual post match nonsense any more.

  4. First thing I saw. Fat man moaning. Don’t need to comment.

  5. Maybe we could send him a Moaning Diary as a gift. The old one must be full.

  6. Loving the last sentence the most.I think after last weeks bullsh*t from the hippo even the biggest defender of his cause is struggling to show him much respect.Though there are still one or two left i noticed on Wetpants Till Im Dry.Mind you i dont think they ever watched Hippo football live at the ground in their lives, lol.
