Liverpool is under more pressure after they surrendered their third place in the Premier League to Manchester City who beat Leicester City this afternoon in bizarre circumstances.
City narrowly won the game 2-1 after Riyad Mahrez penalty was disallowed as the referee deemed he touched the ball twice as he slipped. The result puts City on 72 points, two above Liverpool with both having played 36 games.
Liverpool is winless in their last five games against West Ham in all competitions – their worst run since February 1965.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have to reverse that trend and make it four consecutive away victories to keep Arsenal from also taking away their fourth place which would relegate them in the Europa League fifth spot. Arsenal faces Stoke away this evening before facing relegated Sunderland next Tuesday at home followed by Everton at the Emirates next weekend. A perfect nine points for Arsenal in their remaining three games would mean Liverpool need to beat both West Ham and Middlesbrough to guarantee Champions League football next season.
If we want a top ten position we have to win also because Bournemouth play Leicester next weekend so a draw is likely to be no use to us, fingers crossed COYI !!!
