West Ham United’s transfer plans under new manager Julen Lopetegui have taken a surprising turn. The Hammers, previously keen on signing defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, have reportedly pulled the plug on the deal.

Back in February, West Ham identified Adarabioyo, a 26-year-old defender leaving Fulham, as a potential summer signing. His free agent status and homegrown player designation made him particularly attractive.

The Hammers reportedly devised a strategy to win the race for Adarabioyo, offering him a lucrative salary and a long-term contract.

However, with Lopetegui’s arrival, the transfer landscape has shifted. According to reports, upon learning of the managerial change, Adarabioyo’s representatives contacted West Ham to gauge continued interest. They were then informed that the club was no longer pursuing the defender.

This decision has reportedly left Adarabioyo “in shock.” He was said to be interested in West Ham due to the high possibility of earning regular playing time, especially with the potential departures of Angelo Ogbonna and Nayef Aguerd.

Lopetegui’s reputation as a manager who takes charge of transfers is holding true. Reports suggest he’s already collaborating with Tim Steidten on potential signings. Scrapping the Adarabioyo deal marks Lopetegui’s first major transfer decision at the club

    • Bennyboy baker says:

Maybe just maybe not signing him is the right thing if there is questions marks about his ability and if he is the type player that suits the playing style of Lopetegui be one to watch and see how things work out

It’s all about us at moment everyone jumping on our backs saying this and that. Only time will tell we don’t do things in half that’s the westham way
        MASSIVE EVERYWHERE WE GO

Tbh Kip, your response to the news is the only drama I’m hearing atm!

  • PT Hammer says:

Despite it not leading directly to a signing, it’s refreshing to see some decisiveness, rather than dithering.

    • Brian says:

Sorry thought he was a coach and transfers were Tim’s business, may as well save money and get rid of Tim if the manager is choosing players he wants not the ones Tim identifies. Oh wait it’s David Moyes Spanish brother. Let’s not listen to this nonsense as it’s all just that and wait until the start of the season and see who the coach is and what players are at the club.

  • Dave says:

All hearsay, no one knows what the plans are.
No one picked Alvarez or kudos etc last season until they were done.
I wouldn’t have thought many know the plans if he’s got his own targets.
Why not chat when they sign and dismiss the rest of the speculation rubbish.

Going off of ONE report from an unreliable source? Same source said Amorim was keen to join us and wanted the job. Come on.

  • JP says:

    Agreed Dave

  • Nick says:

Why can’t we keep all our business under our hat? It is so annoying to read stuff from an insider close to Sullivan a spainsh agent etc etc that tells the world what’s going on at West Ham. We may stand a chance of signing players if it isn’t common effing knowledge. Drives me insane.

  • Lee says:

Time will tell … not all the positions we need will be filled in the summer

    Let’s see the early results

  • Ken Brickell says:

I am fed up with reading that we are going after so and so and if we get him, his team will buy such and such to replace him at half the price. So why don’t we just buy such and such? If so and so’s team think that such and such is a better prospect for them, it’s a no-brainer.

  • John Stack says:

I’ve been dubious who’s actually in charge of transfers since he was, announced. We were told Tim chose the players and the so called head coach only told Tim the player profile wanted. From what I’ve read. I’m worried J Lo is manager and not a head coach. I can see a fallout happening already.

  • David Pope says:

I think Max Killman is the preferred target….

  • Mark Wilson says:

    Utter nonsense

Steidten is in charge of transfers, Lopetegui is head coach, he doesn’t demand anything. He reports in to Steidten
