Magpies jealous of Hammers and Foxes

|

Glenn Hoddle says Newcastle fans are jealous of the season West Ham and Leciester City  are having while their yteam remain in obscurity towards the bottom of the Premier League table.

Talking on his own podcast, ‘ The Glenn Hoddle Footy Show‘: “When Steve went to Newcastle I don’t think they expected anything else but to stay in the division.

“I think Steve Bruce’s job is safe this season. It’s still going to be very difficult for any of those bottom three to sneak out of there.”

Hoddle insisted ‘the big problem for Newcastle has been the success of clubs many regard as their peers, highlighting the current top four challenges of Leicester City and West Ham United, while the Magpies languish at the wrong end of the table.”

He also said: “I think the problem is, for Steve, for Newcastle and their fanatical fans, they look at Leicester in the top four, they look at Wolves playing in the Europa… they look at West Ham at the moment. Aston Villa’s another example.

“They look at them and think ‘we should be doing that’. I don’t think they expect to be in the top four, but they expect more.

“But being safe from the relegation is where I see Newcastle at the moment.

Claret and Hugh say:

Last season it was West Ham in the same position as Newcastle and it is so easy to blame the manager or the board, on paper the Magpies have a good team but a run of bad luck and an injury to Callum Wilson has put pay to their push to the top ten this season.

Like West Ham, a section of their fanbase are campaigning for their owner Mike Ashley to leave but despite four years of trying has been unable to find a buyer than can conclude a deal to take over the reins.  Steve Bruce isn’t the most inspiring of managers in the Premier League but many were saying the same of David Moyes when he was re-appointed to West Ham.
