Make your mind up time approaches for Gomez

|

West Ham may have hit a snag in the pursuit of Maxi Gomez with the striker continuing to sway towards remaining in Spain.

However, he is facing a difficult decisionas the only La Liga club keen to sign him are Valencia who clearly do not have the cash to meet Celta Vigo’s demands.

We understand that the front man remains keen to join a Spanish-based Champions League outfit, and with seemingly Valencia out of the running, only three other outfits could offer him his preferred move – Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

The Irons are still talking to Celta Vigo and, having upped their bid, are ready to go on continuing negotiating as they did for Felipe Anderson last season while looking for a change of heart from Gomez.

Manuel Pellegrini is keen to link him with Marko Arnautovic up front with Salomon Rondon as the club’s back up striker.

Director of Football Mario Husillos is in charge of talks  for the player and with his experience of finding a way through difficult negotiations, the club remain hopeful the deal will be done.

  • I thought we where only interested in players who want to play for us…
This guy doesn’t seem bothered at all!!
Plenty of quality around. Leave this guy alone..

Disagree Adam’s once he is with us he will recognise the club’s ambition, the great players he will be playing with and of course a proven world class manager

Make your mind up time ??? Do you not think it would help to put a bid in that has a chance of being accepted first.

  • Robin Frost says:

I do wonder how good he really is , there seems to be little interest from the bigger clubs , and surprisingly little interest from the Spanish clubs who would know his game very well

    • Dom says:

Fair point Robin, but we were saying exactly the same thing about Anderson last summer and he turned out alright.

  • Oliver Burns says:

Not sure he is a really proven goalscorer for the money that’s being talked about. I would like to trust Pelle’s judgement but, for me, the decision to bring in Wilshere means that I still have doubts.

  • the iron man from essex says:

I have just read that he is meant to be waiting to see if spuds come in for him.. if there is any truth to this report then it really is time to tell him to do one.
No way should we have to wait for a player who seems to want to play for half a dozen other teams before us.. imagine it ‘well no one else wants me so I’ll sign for WHU as they are stupid enough to pay me £m’s more the Celta’
