Man City back in for Paqueta after Arsenal misfire

Man City back in for Paqueta

Manchester City are reportedly planning to make another attempt to sign Lucas Paqueta in the summer after missing out on the Brazilian midfielder last season due to an ongoing FA investigation.

Despite Manchester City’s dominance again this season, they seem to be lacking a spark. This was evident in their struggle to break down Arsenal during Sunday’s Premier League fixture.

Despite investing heavily in the transfer market, it’s fair to say that Pep Guardiola failed to adequately replace his German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who left for Barcelona on a free transfer.

While Mateo Kovacic was brought in from Chelsea and Matheus Nunes arrived from Wolves, both players have found it difficult to secure a spot in the starting line-up.

After witnessing Paqueta’s dominant midfield performance against Newcastle, it’s clear why City would be interested in him. Until David Moyes made the puzzling decision to withdraw Michail Antonio against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle, Paqueta was able to effortlessly carve open their defense.

Now, numerous press reports suggest that City will make another attempt to sign the Brazilian in the summer transfer window. Unfortunately, there’s nothing West Ham can do about it due to the player’s £85m buyout clause.
