Moyes gets a hammering

|

So we are out of the FA Cup and David Moyes has given his reasons why but FB Facebook follower Bryn King disagrees entirely with what he has had to say about the defeat at Southampton.

By Bryn King

David Moyes was looking for scapegoats (ub his after match comments)  when he is really the man responsible!

I did not personally think this was a bad performance. We lacked quality finishing up front. Moyes’s fault!

We look very tired and leggy and we needed some quality subs to come on and makes a difference! Southampton had that. We sadly didn’t! Moyes’s fault!

We don’t need any extra players, he said during the January transfer window! Well we certainly did and it is showing in every match. You can’t flog a dead horse! Moyes is trying to!

Very poor form of Moyes to publicly criticise one of our consistently better players, Dawson! Moyes is a good manager, certainly not a great one!! We were also simply very unlucky!

That questionable penalty was the turning point, having got back to 1-1 and looking good! Moyes needs to face facts and reality!

So is it ‘Moyes Out’ now, Bryn King? I’m as disappointed as you mate, but you’ve got to look at the bigger picture. Since the return of football post-lockdown two years ago look where David Moyes has taken us. A consecutive season of around 6th position has never been achieved before by any West Ham side. Moyes is our best manager since John Lyall. Perhaps you should save your opinions until after the season is over?

Totally agree with this comment. West Ham, as far as I can remember, has never finished in the top half of the top flight of English football three seasons in a row. Feels like we will under Moyes. That’s real progress. There’ll be bumps along the way, I’m sure. Moyes’ trophy cupboard may remain bare, but the West Ham cupboard is hardly overflowing, is it? We are not a successful club, let’s face the facts. Our managers since 1989, with the exception of Moyes and Curbs, have either been clowns or have had incentives which were misaligned with those of us fans (which is code for Harry Redknapp, basically). Moyes has transformed our fortunes. The danger is that our expectations overtake the reality of what’s possible to achieve over the two years since he’s been back. Patience is a virtue. Judging by some of the comments I read on here after each game we play that doesn’t result in a win, some people have more patience than others. I”m happy for David Moyes to be given all the time he needs, and I’m going to carry on believing in a manager that was so good at Everton that the greatest British manager of all time thought he would do a job at one of the biggest football clubs in the world: a club where the expectations of the fans are justifiably very high indeed.

Moyes is 100% responsible for last night, the dog on the street could see that Soucek, Bowen were off form against Wolves. They needed to be taken out of the team and rested last night and bring in Benrahma and Vlasic. If I was an exciting player I would not come to West Ham under Moyes based on his treatment of players like Benrahma and Vlasic. I cannot see us attracting the right players under Moyes but I am hope I am wrong. He has made a lot of big mistakes this season and by not refreshing up the team last night was yet another. Last night was a perfect opportunity to play Lanzini with Benrahma and Vlasic, take out Soucek and Bowen and see how these clever players work together but not Moyes why because he just does not see it. He does not trust the young players. I totally agree with the article and for me the most blame likes with the manager last night. The players are not robots and he is being wrecklless in asking them to play so many games.

Moyes is 100% responsible for the team selection, system and tactics last night. He chose to play 3-4-3 against a 4-4-2 where our flanks were continually exposed. He chose not to have one full back on the bench. He chose to only make ONE voluntary substitution and not to give our kids a chance. They couldn’t have done any worse up front could they? He chose not to get a striker or a left back in the summer and again in January. He was outsmarted by Ralf Hasnhutl who made 9 changes and then used his subs to make his team stronger. Ours made us weaker. All down to you Mr Moyes

Spot on again Johnham . . No need to look at the trophy cupboard in Moyes mansion … because it is empty .and will remain so . Not long to wait Trevor … the season will be over in next two weeks .

Harsh , we have never been better then under Moyes , it’s a blip. I trust the team to bounce back and go on a good PL run. Come on lads stick together & stick at it . COYI ⚒

Don’t agree with the blaming of Dawson, Broja is a handful, we should try and buy him at the end of the season, Dawson lacks speed but overall his defending is very good, Zouma had a good game also. The penalty imho was a penalty but under the eyes of the law it should have been not given because it wasn’t a clear and obvious error, the thing I was more ****ed off about was how the attack on Soucek wasn’t a straight read card he clearly uses his elbow to attack the player, that was the turning point when we lost control in the middle of the park. Benrahma and Vlasic weren’t able to affect the game. There wasn’t much in it but on their second half display would probably say Southampton deserved it.

We long suffering WHU fans all support DM for the upturn of our club. We also see the flaws. The cup game was screaming for a rotation line up. Every Prem club does that and includes young players – cue Southampton. We had international players and U23 players ready but sorry Boss you bottled it. Afraid of losing? But we lost anyway DM – flogging tired players every few days does not work!!!!

  • Tony gore says:

I’m not suprised at the result, I never have been suprised at any result since Ive supported west ham since 1963
