Moyes gets backing from former Irons boss

|

alan_curbishleyFormer Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is backing David Moyes to turn things round at the London Stadium.

Curbs saved us from relegation in 2006,but insists the players must now stand up and be counted.

He said: “I think players have to take responsibility for their performances, but the way of the world is it’s the manager that takes it on the chin.

“I remember Arsene Wenger saying the manager must be the most important component at a football club because when it goes wrong he’s sacked.”

And he insists that Moyes is the man to sort things out although he will need the backing of the Irons faithful.

He said: “The recruitment in the summer – they brought a lot of players in – but because of injuries and a lack of form they don’t know their best first XI.

“I think once David sorts that out and gets them organised then they’ll pick up.

“I can’t see who would have been universally popular.

“You see the problems erton have had. Who was out there? Ex-West Ham managers like Alan Pardew or Sam Allardyce?

“Or were they going to prise someone like Marco Silva? Look at the problems Everton had with that one even if he wanted to leave.

“I think West Ham moved swiftly and they’ve been quite up front. Here’s a short-term deal, keep us up and we’ll talk again.

“He seems grateful for the opportunity and there’s nothing wrong with having a hungry and angry manager.”

Couldn’t agree more, Moyes needs time, there are very few quick fixes to lack of conditioning and poor coaching. Moyes will improve the players and find a system that will work, The players have to stay focused on improving each game, it will take time and sometimes you have to take a step back to move forwards, when we get Hernandez back and Antonio fully fit aswell as Carroll we will have quite a few options. In the meantime though it is a great opportunity for Rice which we have all been calling for, possibly Martinez may get some minutes and before long it will be January where hopefully the chairmen will dig deep and get the players in early they should have in previous windows COYI !!!
