Moyes keeping his fingers crossed

|

Moyes handDave Moyes may be tempted to press Aaron Cresswell into action tonight at Wembley but won’t made a decision until the last minute.

The left back is carrying a small back injury and is no better than fifty fifty but with resources so short the manager may be forced to take a chance.

Speaking ahead of the game with Spurs he said: ““I’m hoping Cresswell’s injury doesn’t keep him out because we’re pretty short in both full-back areas.

Until we have got both Sam Byram and Jose Fonte back we’re a bit short defensively.”

Having revealed that Reece Oxford has sprained his ankle. and “probably might not be fit for Thursday” he said: “That’sthat’s my first thought.

“The biggest thing is I don’t have many changes and I don’t have lots of players. I’ve got some forward players I could change around but I don’t have many players in other positions. I’m not carrying any more players.”

As explained elsewhere on the site Cresswell’s absence would probably see Arthur Masuaku drafted in to the defensive role on the left with Declan Rice probably joining Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna at central defence and Pablo Zabaleta on the right side.

FINGERS CROSSED ? Try opening you’re eyes Moyes !!! Play cresswell and help the spuds offensive line !! Lofl , zabba to have problems as well with son,s pace and diving !!!
2-0 already , let’s hope the andrenalin v spuds get us a result !!! Arnie hat trick will do .
Spuds still feeling the last game blues against us and hopefully an early goal from us would rock them , were the underdogs here and the pressure is on them . we do well at Wembley in
general so let’s keep it that way. Expect loads of dirty tricks from the spuds , who is the ref ? 😉

I thought Cresswell must be carrying an injury as he’s certainly not the player he was. He finally managed a decent cross for Carroll’s header.
I hope he didn’t aggravate it by punting the ball 100 yards in the air when a free-kick was given (we tell kids not to do that).

Straight swap. Rice for Cresswell. Why complicate things?

I don’t understand what Claret and Hugh are saying here.

Cresswell plays as a centre back, he would be replaced with Rice, so Aurther would play in the same position he has in all previous games.

    Am i missing something here?

Exactly. that’s why i said “why complicate things”?

Play Rice he is a mobile Defender who can play the ball out the back & get fwd w some pace. He has shown he can play anywhere mid & back. And like Fonte when he was on Left Rice can get out very well & get going fwd. He has been brilliant for me has made a mistake here or there but not more then our experienced players.

If Collins is good I’d have him in for Reid to & Oggy has been great in middle. I worry about Zab but hopefully he will hold back more Rice covered for him in City game w Sane. But even WBA exposed Zab.

    But Rice has to start.
