Speculation stating the obvious – that David Moyes will reject the chance of a move to West Ham in favour of Everton – is currently underway.
The Moyes story – broken exclusively in ClaretandHugh yesterday was bound to create a reaction among others playing catch up but as we reportedĀ contact was due to start with all candidates on the Hammers short list last night.
Marco Silva’s near identical position to Manuel Pellegrini makes Moyes’ position more Everton than the Hammers with Silva’s team facing a horrendous run of matches over the next few weeks.
They travel to Leicester and Liverpool before entertaining Chelsea, travelling to Leicester and Mancester United. Then come Burnley and Arsenal at home.
On current form there pursuit of points looks as dire as West Ham’s and the door for Moyes and thus the Goodison door may well have opened after this weekend or next.
Moyes – after managing the club for ten years – is obviously going to be sorely tempted by by a return leaving theĀ Hammers with a short list of Chris Hughton, Sean Dyche with the remote possibility of Rafa Benitez should he resign of be sacked
Why would he ever want to come back to us after the way the boards treated him? No chance.
That’s not the issue at all – they are all big boys . Stuff happens
Also stating the obvious, Everton are in a stronger position financi to get the manager they want, whether Moyes or somebody else. Then there is the little matter of how our owners treated Moyes, so I can’t see him wanting to come back here. Think he could probably get us out of a hole again, but based on this season I do wonder if anybody can turn this team around. When you look at the sides we are supposed to be competing with they look miles ahead of us. Who are we actually better than in the PL? Maybe Watford but I think they can be rescued.
The team has too many old players with no flair, and that goes for the manager aswell.
If I was David Moyes and S+G came knocking on his door I would tell them to do one and get lost..treated very harshly IMHO
