Moyes stays on case with his targets

|

David Moyes’ decision not to take a holiday as such this summer is based on his determination to get his moves in the window 100 per cent correct. He may be a little haunted by the Jordan Hugill debacle which marked his first, and thus far, only move into the market for the Hammers.

The manager has checked out Eberechi Eze on various occasions and will again be studying videos of him and others before making his opening bids.

He will also be discussing things with his backroom staff and getting final opinions either personally or on the phone as he decides on his final shopping list.

There have been no moves for any Championship targets so far but there is also much interest in Slavia Prague winger Lukas Masopust who is understood to have been recommended to the club by former team-mate Tomas Soucek.

Moyes is known for his patience in the market and will undoubtedly be kept up to speed on his preferred targets by agents and targeted clubs.

Only move in the market? What about Bowen and Soucek? Where they solely down to Sullivan?

    • I don’t know but as Moyes didn’t arrive until Jan I think it unlikely they were his don’t you?

Bowen and Soucek seem far too good to be Sullivan picks.

I don’t think it’s unlikely for two reasons:
Firstly, Moyes re-signed on 29th Dec 2019, Soucek joined on 29 Jan and Bowen signed on 31 Jan 2020. Plenty of time to get a transfer from start to finish.
Secondly, there’s no rule about out of work managers being prohibited from watching football. Why couldn’t he have turned up at the club with an idea of what players he wanted to sign?
(third bonus reason – neither is a misfiring striker or a cheapie full back which are Sully’s usual picks).

Probably the slowest mover in the market and I’m wondering if his choice of spending 10mill on a very average player from Preston has shown him to be a very poor judge. Bow and sou makes me think they were actually sullys deals after all and he is renowned to not be a good judge of players either although sometimes does get it right. We certainly could do with an experienced manager coach that even if not taking Moyes job could put his knowledge of players for us to get in .
