Moyes willing to sanction defender clear out

|

David Moyes is understood to be willing to sanction a Hammers defence clear out if bids matching club valuations come in for West Ham defenders this summer.

While Angelo Ogbonna, Issa Diop and Ben Johnson appear to be safe for now the manager would be unlikley to stand in the way of  Aaron Cresswell, Ryan Fredericks,  Fabian Balbuena and/or Arthur Masuaku if bids were received in the summer transfer window.

As reported earlier this week the 57-year-old manager will make incoming defenders his priority this summer as he looks to add two or three new faces to his squad with limited funds.

The manager is thought to be looking at a number of left-backs, right-backs and central defenders to strengthen the squad and the Hammer defence and was spotted at several championship games scouting targets.

The Hammers conceded 62 goals last season and the 57-year-old manager wants to make that his number one priority.

Would imagine that Cresswell may also be relatively safe, where we would buy someone better or with great potential and he would become the reserve.

    Top 10 for goals scored.
    Bottom 5 for goals conceded.

Correct strategy. Central midfield finally sorted, time to fix the wife defensive areas.

32..how many goals were concided from attacks down our left…answer..far far far to many..Cressie blows hot and cold to often m8..

I would also like us to keep Cresswell. He is a good player and with money tight why take a risk trying to find better. I imagine David Moyes is also looking at attitude and general pride in the shirt – someone not afraid to roll their sleeves up. Cresswell fits that bill as well. 100% keep him.

Cresswell is simply not good enough to be first choice . Keep as back up only if necessary.

Agree should keep Cresswell as he is so good at crosses that have produced goals and frr kicks especially.. Very good attitude and role model too thpugharmchair/TV since move to LStad

  • Jersey Hammer says:

Keep Oggie, Diop and Johnson but the rest of the defence should go. Cresswell has had his day and the left needs a total overhaul. DM is man to take WHU forward just by his stance on strengthening the defence. Something Pellegrini couldn’t see which showed his incompetence.
