Moysie and Dec lift major awards

|

Moysie won the manager of the year award for the second successive season whilst Declan was named Premier League Player of the Year.

The duo were judged to be winners by judges  from former players to major footballing bodies and sports media.

For Moyes, a second consecutive Manager of the Year award was awarded following a record-breaking 2021 for West Ham, with the Irons collecting more points (73), more victories (22) and more goals (73) than any previous calendar year in the Club’s Premier League history.

The manager has also helped his side top their first-ever UEFA Europa League group, setting up a Round of 16 tie later this month, and pushed the Hammers to challenge for further European qualification this season.

ClaretandHugh says: Congratulations are well and truly deserved for Moysie and Dec after the first of the awards ceremony have swung into action. To win the award back to back over two years is a brilliant achievement for the manager whilst Declan’s week on week performances made him a near certainty to collect the best player award. The difference this manager has made to a club which was so often looking over its shoulder is quite extraordinary and all he needs now is  – as he has said himself – to win something. That may or may not be this year via the Europa Cup but whether that happens or not both the boss and one of our own in Declan can take enormous pride from this achievement.

It’s worth some of the Moyes knockers out there – who seem to be growing in number – asking how many previous West Ham managers have won awards two seasons in a row.
