New Covid rules imposed on fans

The Government has introduced what is being described as Plan B to combat the growing Omricon Covid 19 threat.

And as far as football is concerned it means that fans will be required to show proof of double vaccination or a negative test to attend sporting events with crowds of more than 10,000 people in England under new Covid-19 rules.

The rules will come into effect from Wednesday, 15 December and is seems clear that the game, along with the country at large, may be heading back into darker days.

Coming at the same time as Spurs have been hit by numerous covid cases within it is squad is a cause for concern across the game..

Access to any event in excess of 10,000 people in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already requires a Covid pass which and  as we reported earlier when reporting Plan B may happen – big hold ups at getting through the turnstiles can be expected.

It could also affect the numbers attending games again given that and the dangers some may perceive  from the apparent rapid spread of the new variant.

Johnson announced the rules during a news conference at Downing Street on Wednesday.

There are three Premier League games on 14 December, the day before the rules come into effect, with four top-flight games the following day when the rules begin.

The BBC reports the new rules will affect all 17 Premier League games scheduled between 15-19 December, with Brentford, Manchester City and Norwich – who all play on Tuesday – the only teams not to have a home game in this time.

  1. Honestly I absolutely despair due to the hypocrisy, a football stadium is an open air venue, yes 60,000 of us will be gathering there, whilst remaining outside mind you! But, the overwhelming majority of people in attendance will arrive by public transportation which by definition are enclosed spaces with inadequate ventilation, doh! Thereafter we’ll be huddled together at checkpoints to disclose private and confidential information with strangers!
    It’s a farce!

    • I don’t get the ‘hypocrisy’ thing, I would agree that there’s been a lot of woolly thinking about the way that COVID has been handled. I believe that COVID passes should have been used from the outset to try and control this scourge – if you don’t want to get Vaccinated that’s your right but you have to accept restrictions on your ability to mix with the overwhelming majority who are vaccinated.

I also don’t understand the point about sharing ‘private and confidential’ information with strangers – don’t you want to get out of this nightmare? I think it’s everyone’s duty to protect themselves as much as possible – disclosing your COVID Status seems a little price to pay – IMHO!

The logistics of how they do these checks are another matter – it could be chaos – what happens when someone can’t show a COVID Pass etc – has this been thought through? 🤔

  2. Michael, the hypocrisy stems from being able to board public transport without any checks, being crammed into a carriage with scores of fans on route to LS, but attending an outdoor event is subject to scrutiny, do you not find anything ridiculous about this as my health status will be the same in both settings on match day!

It’s a virus which is transmissible regardless of vaccine status Michael, many people have contracted it after being vaccinated, it makes no difference to it being spread, suffice to say that those vaccinated may not endure a torrid time recovering, but I know several unvaccinated people who have fully recovered fully. An individual’s choice is not up for debate, of course I want an end to this, finally please do not presume to know what my health status is, that’s nobody’s business but mine, that’s the whole point, stigmatism is uncalled for anytime, any place.

    • I 100% Agree with you DJHammer, I find the lack of basic common sense which surrounds us breathtaking and I am truly shocked that people of supposed intelligence have brought into such nonsense. I have been scratching my head to figure out why and all that I can come up with is that it is easier for some to be told what to do and think than to think for themselves.
I remember the videos coming out of China with people collapsing in the streets and quaking. I also remember two weeks to flatten the curve, I remember the single wonder jab developed in record time, I remember the most effective two jabs 12 weeks apart, I remember the lockdowns…
…and here we are still buying into this nonsense. I credit myself with having more than a couple of brain cells rattling around in my head and I use them to figure stuff out for myself. It is funny that the recorded deaths in this country between 2018 & 2020 are all very similar and it was also strange how the common flu disappeared during this period that we are in. Common sense should be handed out instead of jabs and passports.
