Hammer Pedro Obiang tops a Premier League table of midfielders making successful tackles.
The often underrated West Ham player shows his true value to the Irons team with the publication of the latest statistics. Pedro has made 45 tackles, winning 41 of them to record a success rate of 91.1%.
Second in the table is Newcatle’s Andros Townsend on loan at Palace with 89.5% followed by Spurs Mousa Dembele with 84.6% in third.
Last night on Essex Radio station Phoenix FM Chairman’s son Jack Sullivan said Stevie Gerrard told David Sullivan that he is West Ham’s best player.
Obiang is seen as a contender for the Hammer of the year this season along side Michail Antonio.
If we were voting now he would have been my hammer of the year anyway, like Antonio last season perhaps far more so he has overcome being sidelined for a whole season when he was clearly deserving of a permanent place in the side.
For me this was the enormous improvement over last season, that he had to make to be a first team regular. He was not aggresive enough or efficient enough in the defensive side of his game.
It’s great to see him keeping it up for the last 3 months.
Come off it Fishes.
Obiang has always been aggressive and efficient. You were just so into Noble you couldnt see it, if you know what l mean.
Actually I’m just giving my opinion about Obiang and nobody else, but obviously your one of those Noble-haters who have to throw Noble into every discussion.
In the words of the great Mr. Gold, ‘go and lie down’, and get the hate of our youth products out of your system.
Opta disagrees:
Obiang: 60 tackles, 41 won @ 68.3%
Noble is no longer the hit man under Slaven, but his pass completion is a staggering 87.4% (854 passes made). The West Ham Way. 😉
PS
Ogbonna: 29 tackles, 21 won @ 72.4%
