One time Hammers target set for Everton return

|

One time long term Manuel Pellegrini target, Andre Gomes could be back to prove a thorn in West Ham’s side at Goodison Park Saturday lunchtime.

The midfielder has been struggling with a rib injury but came off the bench to make an appearance against Burnley after missing defeats against Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Manchester City.

Now it seems according to word out of Everton that he will get his first start since first feeling the injury against Wolves.

Former Barcelona midfielder Gomes made his move to Goodison permanent after a loan spell last season amid intense pressure from West Ham for his signature and it is no coincidence that the club has been in the doldrums since his absence.

Typically of course, as has been the case so often in the past against teams where a key player has been missing, they are fit when the Irons present the next opposition.

In missing out on Gomes, Pellegrini eventually settled on Pablo Fornals who is likely to be on the bench for theĀ  game.

West Ham have a clean bill of health for the trip to Liverpool apart from Lukasz Fabianski and Michail Antonio.

Despite a virus, Declan Rice was on the bench for England in Bulgaria last night and loks certain to be fit for the game.
