Karl Robinson

Oxford United boss Karl Robinson is planning major changes to his squad for tomorrow night’s match but is confident his team will beat the Hammers.

The Irons arrive at the Kassam Stadium with the Oxford boss in highly positive mood after his team scored a record breaking 6-0 victory at Lincoln City.

But with a League match coming up against Gillingham, Robinson is ready to shuffle the pack for the Carabao Cup clash.

“That is a tremendous sign of the direction we want to go in and hopefully we can continue that moving forward.”

He added: “I asked to build a squad with a two-pronged attack that could have successful cup runs.

“I’ve asked for players that on rotation you shouldn’t see much of a difference. Some may argue that the team we put on the pitch tomorrow may be better than the team that started at the weekend.”

ClaretandHugh says: Robinson may be confident but with a run of clean sheets behind them and no doubt having had the League One outfit watched, the Hammers boss will believe he has enough to see off the Us challenge. Six goals in the last match and 19 in total is a hell of a return and of course we can take nothing for granted against the mid table League One outfit. However, they have also conceded 15 and lost four of their 10 games so, at our best, goals should be available as we go in search of that elusive trophy. Pellegrini has his sights set on Wembley as he looks to add that Cup to the Hammers cabinet and the draw has handed the two decent opportunities of progressing, first at Newport County and now at the Kassam Stadium. Yes, it’s one of those possible banana skin matches but with a changed first team from Saturday Oxford really should be beaten.
