Parkes on Fabianski

|

Lukasz Fabianski has probably made a bigger consistent impression on Hammers fans this season than any other new signing.

Even at Everton he was called upon to make some fine stops in what eventually became a comprehensive victory but without him life could have been a lot more difficult.

His recent form has prompted questions about where he might eventually stand in the list of Hammers stoppers.

And perhaps our greatest, Phil Parkes, isn’t surprised saying: “He really is an excellent keeper – good shot stopper, not frightened to leave his line or punch if necessary, plus his distribution is excellent.

“When you saw the fees being mentioned for the likes of Pickford and Butland at one stage the £7 million we paid for Fabianski was a fantastic bit of business.”

But Parkesy is disappointed that Adrian hasn’t got a lot better since his arrival explaining: “He reached a level and hasn’t gone on and that surprises and disappoints me.

“With Fabianski in his current form it’s difficult to see a way into the team for him but after last season we are in a much healthier situation.

The Joe Hart disaster is in the past and it’s great to see a seriously good keeper between the posts for the club.”
