Payet fines bill could run to millions

|

CandH Exclusive

payetDmitri  Payet could be hit with a fine of £250k every fortnight should he choose to stage a strike which would see him failing to attend training sessions.

A source at the Professional Footballers Association told ClaretandHugh that a two week fine is applicable to every offence committed and that were Payet to fail in his contracted duties to the club on a regular basis  he could be hit over and over again.

With 18 weeks of the season left it’s conceivable, therefore, that the Frenchman could be fined nine times which would cost him just over £2 million.

His representatives, however, might argue that the one offence of going on strike is an end to the matter and worthy only of one punishment – a view the PFA is unlikely to share.

Meanwhile, it is being rumoured that the player is also very keen to return to France in Marsellies in particular for personal and family reasons.

Move him on fast or the sore in the camp will worsen

Don’t forget, Payet’s basic wage is only around £65k mark, with the rest made up through bonus and appearance money. Two weeks wages would be ~£130k.

  • I think his basic 68K per week but he will lose out on all the other bonuses such as the 25k per appearance bonus, goal and assist bonuses, win bonuses etc.

The loss to him would still be in the millions

I wonder what will happen if a British club come in for him, with 6 teams challenging for the title this year Payet could be the golden ticket for them, certainly moneywise we would be better selling domestically or to China it all depends on how much of this Marseilles stuff is genuine. If the club refuse to sell him to Marseilles he will have a decision to make. There is a long way to go in the transfer window I expect there are quite a few interested parties.

……Really don’t think they’s sell him to a top 6 club here. My feeling is that it’ll be Marseilles (or PSG).

I agree they wouldn’t want to but moneywise it would make the most sense, playing devil’s advocate I wonder if Spuds were to offer Trippier, Jannsen and some money for him what would happen ?

Only a grovelling apology to the club and the fans can save Payet now……… He won’t be here at the end of the month, and will never be spoken about in the same vein as more recent imported heroes like Tevez and Di Canio.
