Penny drops for Pellegrini

|

The penny seems to have finally dropped for Manuel Pellegrini that Sebastian Haller needs support and does not play well isolated.

He also has accepted that the 4-4-2 formation can work although it took and sickness bug from Felipe Anderson to break his stubbornness.

Pellegrini told reporters: “I think that he (Haller) returns from the first few games in the Premier League and for different reasons he was not doing his best performance. I also think that paying with Michail Antonio it worked better for him, creating movements and making space. Not only for the goal, he had other chances and he worked well for the team.”

However, he later added in his defence “This was not the first time, they also played together earlier in the season against Watford and did well there. My intention was to play with both of them but Antonio couldn’t play two or three games in a row after he recovered from injury. Now they are both able to play together and they did very well.”

We believe you, Manuel! thousands wouldn’t. Let’s just hope the pair stay fit and continue their partnership for the rest of the season.

Pellegrini has had all season to give Haller some support. Now he is taking credit for Anderson forcing the change due to sickness. The fans new we needed 2 up front months ago.We will still be relegated unless we change the manager.

    Why is moderation required ?
    Truth is better

    • Moderation is required because we have people who have never been seen here with disgusting mouths and a serious personality disorder involving hatred. Also because some don’t understand libel or how to debate without resorting to the foulest language…and we are family friendly. Moderation is not here to halt opinions whatever they may involve which is the usual and incorrect view and decency is as important as truth.

Don’t get carried away. Whilst the performance was an improvement, we still scraped the win barely and could easily have drawn that match at the end when we lost our shape and bottle (because of the managers subs making us poorer, again).

One result to be celebrated. But keep your feet on the ground. This year, like when Leicester won the league, is poor results all around, for all teams. It’s right because everyone, bar Liverpool, is dropping the ball. In those seasons we need to take advantage, just like Leicester did and are doing again. We, just like when we finished 7th, are making a hash of a great opportunity.

    Sorry, but truth hurts.

Agree with your assessment Master, it was an improved performance but for me one in which we should have scored more goals based on the possession we had in and around their goal. Happy for the win but against a better team the same weaknesses remain. I was happy to see 5 at the back at the end and think against better teams like Liverpool and City that is how we should start matches. Carlos Sanchez and Yarmo yesterday were poor, Noble and Rice gave the ball away in dangerous positions where better teams would have capitalised and punished us.

The system was better but unless we defend better as a unit it could be a long season, we need pace and aggression to be added in central midfield and at left back, with preferably a pacey striker added to help Haller, Antonio was excellent yesterday but he is not a 20 goal a season striker, we are like Donald Trumps hair in attack i.e. very thin up top.

Pellegrini is full of it, better to be lucky than good and bar a cold for Anderson he would’ve still wheeled out the same old formation that failed has failed all season. Get your coat Pellegrini your time is done

I have to say a lot of comments are saying the same thing.Only a late illness to Anderson forced his hand into playing Haller with Antonio.Sanchez and Yarmolenko subs were almost suicidal.Course I am happy with the win but it looked more like a Maresca team like the Chelsea win than Pellegrini.Very lucky to still have a job today as fate stepped in otherwise, unbelievably he would have started with the same 11 who capitulated to Arsenal .

AS most of us who have watched the hammers over the reason have long been aware playing a single striker in most games does not work. A 442 system is much more consistent in getting regular positive results
Let’s hope MP has finally got the message

The donation was much better as it took some pressure off the back line as we could play forward . There was also more fight & that will be needed in every game left. I hope MP sticks with it and good to seeHaller score looked much better . Antoinio brilliant for us & looks like the2 of them could form a good partnership. All we need now is the players & manager listening to each other and consistency ! COYI

We will.see v Palace if “the penny has dropped ” or his stubbornness continues

  • Jeff says:

    1. Two up front
    2. No playing from the back anymore, get the ball forward quickly into the channels for Antonio.
    3. New left back, new right back
    4. Buy a box to box fighting, scrappy midfielder

Sell: Lanzini, Yamelenko, Sanchez, Ajeti, Snodgrass, Masuaku, Wiltshire, Roberto….
Bring in 2 – 3 youngsters from the academy for the last third of the season

Don’t believe running a club etc is that hard, these people are a cabal. Notice how the same managers just get regurgitated over and over at different clubs… Have you ever asked why?

Give me the reigns we’d be top 4 next season…
