Kalvin Phillips

Phillips transfer chase wide of the mark

Phillips transfer chase by Gonzo

Once again, there are rumours linking West Ham with Manchester City and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips. The timing of this speculation resurfacing is unclear, but it’s making rounds across various news outlets.

Recently, Phillips was on the bench for Manchester City in matches against Arsenal and RB Leipzig, not getting a chance to play. This situation isn’t new for the £50m signing from Leeds, as he has had limited playing time under Pep Guardiola.

Despite the lack of minutes, England manager Gareth Southgate selected Phillips over West Ham’s James Ward Prowse for the national team last week.

As far as I can see, it seems unnecessary for West Ham to pursue Phillips, especially considering Director of Football Tim Steidten’s focus on recruiting younger players for the future. The press reports probably lack credibility in this regard.

West Ham’s Kalvin Phillips transfer chase is surely nothing more than a rehashed story.

Perhaps manager David Moyes might be interested in the player. However, there are areas of the team in greater need of reinforcements than central midfield.

Phillips wouldn’t currently secure a spot in West Ham’s first team line-up. Edson Alvarez is performing exceptionally well in the defensive midfield role, which would mean Phillips might just swap one substitutes bench for another if he were to join West Ham.

Yes mate I believe and hope this is just blowing smoke, people putting his lack of game time with our ‘losing’ Dec. We don’t need Phillips and he wouldn’t get a game here either!! Gareth loves him but could not have included him on form – he’s not playing!!
