Poll: Resounding vote for Davids smashes critics

|

goldsullivanpngWest Ham’s owners have received a massive vote of confidence from the club’s supporters.

The two Davids have often come in for noisy attacks on social media where David Gold has chosen to make himself prominent as he bids to answer the issues raised by fans.

ClaretandHugh – perhaps controversially –  decided to put some perspective on the stuation by running a poll in which they posed the question “Are David Sullivan and David Gold doing a good job?”

And even with the club suffering a poor start to the season on the pitch with issues surrounding their new home at the London Stadium they have come the fans have given a massive vote in their favour.

With 1,326 votes counted a total of 1,108 fans (83.56 per cent) have given the owners a big thumbs up with just 218 (16.44 pc) registering a no confidence vote.

The poll is now statically significant under the Mori organisation’s terms of reference having reached 1,000.

CandH founding editor Hugh Southon said: “We felt the issue has been rumbling on for long enough. As a site we have always backed the Davids and we are pleased the fans do too. There was some criticism of our decision to run the poll at a low point in the club’s fortunes but that makes the result all the more resounding and we’re pleased. Let’s all move on now and get behind them and the club.”

Hi Hugh – Irrespective of the poll results (real fans know the David’s are doing a good job), I still maintain these recent polls are ill-timed and unnecessary. You get your headline irrespective of the outcome. So a plea from me – Until we turn the corner, which will be any day now, let’s not fan the flames where Slav, Brady or the Dave’s are concerned. Instead can we try to demonstrate unity as that’s what will breed confidence throughout the club and bring about a speedier change in our fortunes? Last time I looked the Etihad clan weren’t looking to move into East London and throw £500m pa at us.

Is it a coincidence that 20 percent roughly believe that the OS will never feel like home and nearly 20% think we have the wrong chairmen ?

    • I am sure the two are linked. It is worrying that one in five of our supporters don’t believe the London Stadium will ever be our home and don’t want our current owners in charge.

No more of a coincidence No32 than the circa 80 per cent who don’t! And where is the bloody “per cent” symbol on my pad?

  • I should point out this poll came about after one supporter twitter claimed the majority of West Ham fans no longer support the owners leadership. He estimated that at least 60% were now against the two Daves. I challenged him on twitter and in the end said the only way to really find out who was right was to run a poll of at least 1,000 fans.
