This is pointless. Who will it sway if, as seems likely, the result will be ‘no’?
If you buy decent players from decent African nations you know there’s a very good chance they’ll miss a chunk of the season in an AFCON year. This isn’t a surprise to anyone, you just get on with it.
It’d be more worthwhile to lobby for a midwinter break, every year, like other nations. The ridiculous fixture pile up at Xmas/NY might do more damage to our ambitions (with the risk of injury and fatigue) than AFCON. COYI!
Why do people come onto polls like this and vote “don’t know” ?
I mean they must have a view and if they don’t then don’t vote.
I voted no. I mean yes, no it was no.
I’ve voted ‘No’ but I realise that it’s a very selfish response. I can understand why they’d want to play, and it’s near impossible to justify asking them not to. I don’t want this to end any time soon though, and our African players have been a huge part of our success this season. We really need them playing every game and certainly don’t want them picking up injuries. I’m a bit torn really.
