  1. I’ve voted ‘No’ but I realise that it’s a very selfish response. I can understand why they’d want to play, and it’s near impossible to justify asking them not to. I don’t want this to end any time soon though, and our African players have been a huge part of our success this season. We really need them playing every game and certainly don’t want them picking up injuries. I’m a bit torn really.

  2. Why do people come onto polls like this and vote “don’t know” ?

I mean they must have a view and if they don’t then don’t vote.

I voted no. I mean yes, no it was no.

  3. This is pointless. Who will it sway if, as seems likely, the result will be ‘no’?

If you buy decent players from decent African nations you know there’s a very good chance they’ll miss a chunk of the season in an AFCON year. This isn’t a surprise to anyone, you just get on with it.

It’d be more worthwhile to lobby for a midwinter break, every year, like other nations. The ridiculous fixture pile up at Xmas/NY might do more damage to our ambitions (with the risk of injury and fatigue) than AFCON. COYI!
