In 2014 both the Observer and the Guardian claimed Ravel Morrison was invited to a meeting with agent Mark Curtis and that pressure had been placed on him by then manager Sam Allardyce and then captain Kevin Nolan to sign up with their shared agent.
Allardyce dismissed the reports at the time saying “It’s completely unfounded – the rumours or allegations will be made probably by Ravel’s representatives but there’s no truth in the fact that I have sat with Ravel Morrison and tried to press him into signing anything with any agent, never mind mine. It’s his choice and his decision, not mine – unless they ask me.”
Allardyce was asked if Morrison has sought his help in finding a new agent. And he replied: “If he did, I wouldn’t tell you anyway but, no, he didn’t. I haven’t had a discussion with Ravel signing with Mark Curtis. The world that revolves around Ravel is quite unique in terms of the publicity he gets, but there we go.”
Now Ravel Morrison has posted a message on twitter that appears to have re-opened that old wound in an obvious to Allardyce by saying: “No-one listened to a word I said”
Mark Curtis is still understood to still represent Adrian, Andy Carroll and Reece Burke but his previous West Ham client list included James Tomkins, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Joey O’Brien, Kevin Nolan in addition to Sam Allardyce.
Well that’s a surprise 🙂
I saw it on twitter earlier.I still ‘follow’ him on it.Only because i forgot to ‘unfollow’ him hehe
As someone said lastnight a big can of worms has been opened!
Sam has got what he deserved
But I couldn’t give a **** what Ravel says ever.
Spot on. I’m no fan of BFS but Morrison is a joke. So naturally gifted yet happy to throw it all away. Waster.
I thought this was very smelly at the time, there was great speculation and suspicion about the role of Mark Curtis and his relationship with Allardyce.
I remember saying at the time that there must have been a conflict of interest between Allardyce’s role as Club Manager and that of a Client of Mark Curtis who was the Agent for a large number of players.
I know that Ravel Morrison to a large extent is his own worse enemy but you have to wonder if Allardyce put the poison in about him because he wouldn’t join Mark Curtis’s stable. Ravel Morrison’s career has taken a nosedive but you have to wonder about Allardyce’s role in all this!
I wonder how Steve Kean feels now?
Someone mentioned that lastnight Michael.Didnt BFS sue Kean for doubting his integrity lol
Lots of the lads on here mentioned the curtis stuff but got knocked down by the experts amongst our support who think they no everyhting!
Think you’re giving BFS too much credit here. Morrison was a waster at Man U long before BFS got his claws in. Why else did Fergie show him the door? Now there is a good judge of character.
I still have a feeling that Morrison can turn his life and career around. At 23, he could still get it right. It will take the intervention of a John Lyall (think Paul Ince) to help him rather than an abrasive, uncompromising personality like a Ferguson or an Allardyce. It seems like he had plenty of abuse as a child, so it’s not a kicking he needs now.
